In Him

A major spiritual concept taught by the Apostle Paul was the reality of being "in Christ". Years ago when studying the Bible I would attempt to understand these things, but because of my spiritual world-view I could not really grasp them. My former spiritual world-view was primarily that of me doing for God. The Bible became my source of things to do and ways to do them. Ideas like "in Him" did not really make all that much sense or have much value for me with this mind set.

Being in Him has everything to do with what Jesus has done for us. We who are children of God are actually in Christ. In Him, we have the identity of, and experience the very life of, Jesus. Jesus is holy and blameless which makes us holy and blameless. Jesus is completely acceptable to God, which makes us completely acceptable to Him. The life experienced by Jesus was God Himself within, which makes our life experience that same life.

This life in Him is experienced by faith. We must only believe who we are and what we have in Jesus. To walk by sight is to measure ourselves according to the Law- it is to determine by our behavior if we are holy and blameless. The modern notion of sanctification is this very "walking by sight". You will never experience the abundant life that Jesus promised if you continue to evaluate your spiritual walk by the Law or by standards imposed by others on you.

Those of you in Christ are already holy and blameless. Do you believe it? Have you let that in? Do you find your heart leaping with joy on a regular basis at this thought? Is this what you and your Christian friends find yourself talking about all the time?

Believing who you are and what you have in Christ is the source of the Christian life. Receiving the unconditional love of God propels a person to live the Christian life. Are you running on a full tank of God's love for you or are you trying to fill your own tank with your obedience and behavior?

The Good News is really good news. You have been made perfect by the gift and life of Christ. You have the very life of God within you. Walk by faith. Rest and let Jesus live His life in and through you.

In Him and grateful,

Ken
